Across its first three seasons,Outer Bankshas followed the swashbuckling adventures of John B (Chase Stokes) and his friends. And just when we thought they were about to take another L in their treasure hunt, the Season 3 finale delivered a major win for the Pogues. Not only did they at last get their hands on the gold, but they got their hands on the gold from the fabled city of El Dorado itself.
So what's the next hunt? At the ceremony celebrating their discovery of El Dorado, a man approached John B and his friends. He needs their help in uncovering the truth behind the journal of Edward Teach — more commonly known as Blackbeard. The Pogues have a lot to think about before they say yes to using this age-old diary as their next treasure map. After all, their last expedition led to John B and Sarah (Madelyn Cline) watching their fathers die.
"I would like to think that there's going to be quite a bit of hesitation of jumping back into a world where they've lost a lot collectively," Stokes told TV Guidein February 2023. "I think there's now this newfound trust in one another to make the decision collectively and not just as a singular individual, and that goes for the entirety of the Pogues."
Outer Banks is coming back this fall, and we now have a premiere date to look forward to. Here's everything we know so far about Season 4.

Outer BanksSeason 4 release date
We finally know when Outer Banks Season 4 is premiering! On Aug. 29, Netflix announced that the series will be split into two 5-episode parts. Part 1 releases Oct. 10, while Part 2 releases Nov. 7.
What will Outer Banks Season 4 be about?
Here's the official synopsis from Netflix about Outer Banks Season 4: "Following last season's 18-month flash-forward showing Wes Genrette's proposal for the Pogues to find Blackbeard's treasure, Season 4 takes us back in time to the lead-up of that moment. After finding the gold at El Dorado, the Pogues return to the OBX and commit to having a 'normal' life. They've built themselves a new safe haven, officially dubbed "Poguelandia 2.0," where they live together and run a fairly successful bait, tackle, and charter tour shop. But after some financial setbacks, John B, Sarah, Kiara, JJ, Pope, and Cleo take Wes up on his offer, drawn back into the "G" game for a whole new adventure. But before they know it, they're well in over their heads, with dangerous new enemies hot on their heels racing them to the treasure. Meanwhile, their problems are only growing, and they're forced to question their past, present, and future — who they really are, has it all been worth it, and how much are they willing to risk?"
Outer BanksSeason 4 trailers and teasers
The first teaser trailer for Outer Banks Season 4 dropped on Aug. 29. It begins, of course, with John B's narration. He says the Pogues have finally found the gold, and that's where the story should've ended. "But really," John B continues, "it was only the beginning." We then see him and his friends on a boat, in the middle of the night. It's safe to say this new hunt for Blackbeard's treasure is, well, anything but safe. Watch the full teaser below.
